Life
Euler worked mainly at the academies of Saint Petersburg and Berlin. He remained highly productive after losing most of his sight, and he is among the most prolific mathematicians in history.
Contributions
Euler popularized much of modern notation, including f(x) for functions, e, i, and π. His analysis of the Seven Bridges of Königsberg laid the foundation of graph theory and of topology.
