Knowledge
Knowledge has traditionally been defined as justified true belief. In 1963 Edmund Gettier gave cases that meet this definition yet do not seem to count as knowledge, prompting decades of refinement.
Reasoning under uncertainty
Rationalists emphasize reason and empiricists emphasize experience. Formal logic models certain inference, while Bayesian epistemology uses probability theory to model how beliefs should change with evidence.
